Published by Duc May 27th, 2003 in UncategorizedWell, this is the end of my 5-day weekend. Sure went by fast.
So Thursday was graduation. I had come up Wednesday night, hung out with Melissa, Vu, Matt, Gina, Paulina, Wai, Paulo, and Richard briefly, went to Catherine’s, went back to Vu and Matt’s place, and finally went to bed at like 4 at Melissa and Gina’s senior housing apartment. Before graduation we went to Neubie’s for a quick lunch. During the actual ceremony Jon and I tried to get pictures of the procession but it was damned difficult. They were moving too fast for me to get good shots of Cat and Brian, I managed a decent one of Gina (even though she didn’t hear me call her; but Cat’s roommate Melissa did), and then got nothing of Melissa at all because she couldn’t hear both me AND Jon yelling for her. Then the class speaker gave a terrible speech and lots of people cheered when she said, “To conclude…” Then more speeches. Then the keynote speaker gave a great speech that was met with a standing ovation. Then the calling of names and pictures and stuff. And I got to eat dinner with Melissa’s family. Then Cat and I drove back home. Quite a day it was! Emotions of the day are detailed below.
Friday I did nothing. It felt great.
Saturday Vu and I went to Melissa’s place to watch 2 Week’s Notice (it was OK) and the rest of the time I was programming the DucLink section.
Sunday was Elizabeth’s graduation party. I ate huge amounts of food. Elizabeth’s Cook College friends were cool. One of ‘em was poitnarf on the Rutgers DC hub, a guy that was in the CS416 class I TAed (but not in any of my sections). I accused him of cheating back then. We had a good talk about CS junk.
Finally, on this rainy Memorial Day I went up to Jon’s place to hang out. It was nice and relaxed. We watched lots of Trading Spaces (it was a marathon). Talked. Ate. It was nice. Cat felt bad we didn’t do cool stuff, but I was happy. I like just chillin’.
So these 5 days felt like a normal weekend to me. Back to work in 8.5 hours.
