From the plane
Published by Duc November 18th, 2003 in Travel(Note: I typed this up on the plane, but didn’t actually upload it until 1:51 PM Wednesday)
We didn’t take off until around 8:40 PM. The pilot said the weather in Atlanta was fine, so he didn’t really know why we were being delayed.

Had my Fight Club moment by reading the emergency card
So I’m an idiot and totally forgot to bring headphones. I realized this when I was in the airport and started watching the West Wing episode that I had on my hard drive since I figured people wouldn’t mind in a more open environment. But now it’s really freakin’ quiet (well, aside from the noise of the plane) and I’d feel like an ass if I just started watching a show. There’s only 15 minutes left, though. Maybe they’d put up with it for a mere 15 minutes…
Anyway, takeoff was pretty cool. I’ve got a window seat right where the wing is. I liked the sensation of climbing upwards and loved seeing Philadelphia from high above. There are an assload of street lights in the city, which means an assload of work to get them all up and an assload of energy to keep them all lit. I felt like we were going to fall out of the sky when the plane was turning and my view was tilted down towards the ground. It was awesome. I just wish we were allowed to use our “small electronic devices” a little earlier so I could get cooler photos.

Got a shot of the wing while over Philly. You can see some blurry lights below.
Climbing above the layer of clouds was pretty cool too, but that meant I couldn’t see the city anymore. Now it’s totally dark out and I can’t see anything except the lights on the wing. It’s pretty boring. I’m ready for landing so I can see more cool stuff and hopefully feel my stomach dropping.
The guy just gave me some pretzels and a Coke. Woo! Back to reading.
