The New Wisdom

I’m getting so bad about updating.

Saturday was the first day of the Philly Auto Show and Amy and I went. I like seeing concept cars and there were only a few, but it was still cool. The Cadillac Sixteen was there and I got to see the hard tops of the Lexus SC430 and Cadillac XLR retract. There’s something fascinating about motorized panels that hide away. I like the XLR’s keyless design. I like not having to push a button to unlock the doors and I like not having to insert a key to start the car. Very neat. The problem with car shows is that they make you want to buy a car. My practical 1998 Toyota Camry doesn’t hold up well against BMW 745s or even Toyota Priuses.

Amy and I also watched the Super Bowl the next day. The commercials were unimpressive. It’s now been 5 days since the start of the Janet Jackson breast-baring incident. I love that Justin Timberlake called it a “wardrobe malfunction”. I don’t think it’s a big deal at all and I’d bet it was Jackson’s promoters or PR people who sabotaged her outfit. Look how unhappy they are:

The home inspection was on Monday. Most things seem to be in order with the condo, but there are a few problems. The master bedroom has a cracked window, the windows have broken seals (so they’re foggy in between the glass), one of the sinks is a little loose, and the hot water heater is 15 years old. The last one isn’t so bad (the water heater in my parents’ house is 15 years old), but the temperature was turned all the way up so I bet it’s not very efficient anymore. Might be worth my while to replace it. Otherwise, looks good.

Hmm…. What else…. Thursday was my first time at the lab. It wasn’t that bad, but things didn’t work as they were supposed to so I didn’t do much. I still don’t want to be there too often. I like staying at the office.
