I’m working on an web-based database to track spending. Anyone can play with it at www.trackyourspending.com using username fool and password fool (I created the fake account for people at the Fool.com message boards to try). There are still many, many things to fix and complete. For example, you can’t edit a transaction, you have to enter the data in a very particular way, you can’t filter transactions by category, you can’t even filter transactions by month, and you can’t create new accounts. But please try to break it and let me know what you come up with! I just wanted to be able to record everything I spend money on and see where I’m spending too much. It’s web-based so I can update it pretty much anywhere without having to make sure I have a notebook, PDA, or laptop around.

Also, I bought some new wood shades for the living room windows last month and tried to install them last night. The place where they need to be mounted is all drywall, though, so I’m afraid that repeated pulling on the shades will result in lots of unpleasant destruction. I think I just need some better drywall anchors than the ones that came with the shades.
